Keynote Speaker: Christine Malagrida, CNP, FNP-BC

 

Chris Malagrida has over 10 years of healthcare and nonprofit leadership experience and is currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at North Shore Community Health (NSCH), a federally qualified health center with offices in Peabody, Salem and Gloucester. She is an ANCC Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.  Chris has held numerous leadership roles at NSCH, including Chair of the Quality Improvement Committee and Medical Director of the Gloucester site.  She recently received her DATA-waiver so that she can prescribe buprenorphine to patients with opioid use disorder.  She continues to provide primary care to patients at NSCH on a limited basis and has special interests in primary care/behavioral health care integration, homelessness, and medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder.   An active member of the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioner’s (MCNP) Legislative Committee for the past four years, Chris is also serving a two year term as MCNP’s current President.  For the past three years, Chris has also served on the Clinical Issues Committee for the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers.

 

Chris is a 2016 graduate of the UCLA Healthcare Executive Program and a 2015 graduate of the Institute for Nonprofit Practice. In 2016, Chris served as an Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.  She is passionate about incorporating Lean principles in health care, and in 2012, she received a Provider Grant from the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers to apply Lean concepts to transform the culture of the health centerChris is a past recipient of the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program and the New York Albert Schweitzer Fellows Program.  Her prior nursing experience includes working for the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a nurse practitioner and working in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City as a registered nurse.  She completed her nursing training at Columbia University School of Nursing earning herself Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Nursing.  She also has a prior Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, VT.
