Keynote Speaker: Susan Apold, PhD, ANP-BC, GNP, FAAN, FAANP

Dr. Susan Apold is a Clinical Professor of Nursing at the Rory Meyers School of Nursing at New York University College of Nursing where she teaches Masters and Doctoral students health policy and policy engagement.  Dr. Apold currently serves as a Co-Lead for the New York State Action Coalition and a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine Sub-Specialty Committee.  She has served as Professor and founding Dean of Nursing and Health Studies at Concordia College-NewYork where she established three Baccalaureate Nursing programs (Accelerated, traditional Undergraduate and RN completion) and programs in Health Studies.   Prior to her appointment to Concordia, Dr. Apold served at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in the Bronx, New York, where she held a number of positions from faculty to Professor and Dean of the Department of Nursing and finally as the Vice-President for Academic Affairs/Dean of Faculty.  At the College of Mount Saint Vincent, Dr. Apold developed and implemented both an Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner programs, developed a College wide Honors Program and oversaw all academic programs in the College.  She is the author of a variety of publications, has presented at a number of national conferences and has been awarded over 3 million dollars in HRSA program grants which funded Workforce Diversity and Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students.

In addition to her work in nursing education, Dr. Apold has served two terms as President of the American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) and The Nurse Practitioner Association New York State (The NPA, NY).  Dr. Apold served as a member of the inaugural Board of Directors at the AANP.  Currently, Dr. Apold is the founding Chair of the AANP Nurse Practitioner Leadership program, an executive training program of the AANP.  Dr. Apold is a member of the editorial board of The Journal for Nurse Practitioners and Policy, Politics and Nursing Practice.

Dr. Apold is a Fellow of the both American Academy of Nursing and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.  She is an alumna of the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellows program.

Featured Speaker:  Wendy L. Wright, MS, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN, FNAP

Wendy is a 1992 graduate of the Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts and completed a family nurse practitioner post-master’s program in 1995.  She is an adult and family nurse practitioner and the owner of two, nurse practitioner owned and operated clinics within New Hampshire named: Wright & Associates Family Healthcare.  In addition, she is the Owner of Partners in Healthcare Education, a medical education company.  She is the Past President of NPACE and the Senior lecturer for Fitzgerald Health Education Associates.  She is the recipient of numerous awards and was chosen by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners as the 1999 recipient of the New Hampshire State Excellence Award.  In addition, she received the 2009 NH Nurse Practitioner of the Year and the 2014 Top 5 Women in New Hampshire Business Award.  In 2005, she was inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; in October 2014, a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, and in March 2017, a Fellow into the National Academies of Practice. She is the founder of the NH Chamber of Entrepreneurial Nurse Practitioners, an organization designed to assist nurse practitioners with independent practice issues.  In addition to full-time clinical practice, she presents nationally to different audiences and has been a speaker at over 1000 conferences in 46 states.  She is the nurse practitioner representative to the State of NH Immunization Advisory Board.  She has been a medical media spokesperson for a number of companies and has appeared on radio, television, and in print magazines.  Wendy is frequently consulted by malpractice attorneys around the area of clinical practice and has worked on more than 100 malpractice cases involving nurses and nurse practitioners.
