I Want My Continued Learning to Mean Something!

Anyone who knows me knows I am an idealistic Pollyanna in everything from people I meet to causes I support and most specifically in the work I choose to do. I need things to mean something and not simply be an exercise in box-checking, taking up time and resources. Yes, I fully realize box-checking is a necessary part of adulting, like when I write a to-do list simply to check things off and feel I’ve actually been productive (don’t come at me on this time management and leadership persons). However, no one wants to box-check in excessive tedium. Time is finite and one thing we cannot make more of. I’m making a concerted effort to use mine more wisely.

Acne Guidelines – What’s New!
By: Beth Williams, MSN, FNP-C

In January, the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) updated their acne vulgaris management guidelines1. They thoroughly examined the literature, and produced recommendations that are based on existing evidence, incorporating newly approved treatments since their 2016 guidelines2. This gives providers an excellent basis for treating patients with acne.

The document is a worthwhile read and includes a useful decision tree. We’ve identified some highlights within the document that you may find helpful in examining your management of patients (ages 9+) with acne.
